Habitat

The Treaty Council's fisheries habitat program focuses on protecting and restoring critical natural resources habitat.  Staff review land-use activities, such as subdivision proposals, logging permits, and water rights applications, and develop and advocate policies providing better habitat protection in local, state and federal actions.

PNPTC is gathering habitat information in selected watersheds. Research and monitoring projects are also targeted at specific watersheds. The results will help in watershed protection, restoration plans, and in estimating potential salmon escapement for harvest management and conservation.
